The Problem Gambling Foundation will be hosting its yearly Gamble Free Day event on September 1st, 2012. The event will bring together families across the country, promoting awareness of problem gambling’s effect on the local community.
Local rapper Scribe has played a big part in making this year’s Gamble Free Day happen. He has hosted the Scribe With Us song writing contest, encouraging young people to express their feelings about problem gambling and its effect of their lives. He and some of the finalists from the competition will be performing in Auckland.
Over the course of the past few years, problem gambling rates have sky rocketed. Thousands of individuals across the country are afflicted with gambling addiction, which has negative effects on the lives of their loved ones. As such, it is important for the public to be aware of the dangers of problem gambling.
Around the rest of New Zealand, there will be several other events. Various venues around the country will be hosting special responsible gambling promotion events. So, visit the Problem Gambling Foundation’s website for more information on Gamble Free Day events in your area.
