First Impressions of Phoenix Sun
The first thing you notice about Phoenix Sun is the huge set of reels that instantly appear as the game loads. Unfortunately, this 6 x 5 grid reduces in size to 3 x 5 before you can hit spin, although it’s doubtful that this is the last that you see of it during your game. The spaces where the additional wheels sat are now covered, however, you can still make out the squares showing you that they can once again appear if the symbols line up correctly.
The reels are set on a large structure which sits in the middle of the sandy desert. The sand twinkles in the hot sun as many pyramids loom over in the distance. On the covered reels, the Phoenix Sun logo, which just happens to be a phoenix, spreads its wings in front of a golden pyramid. Its appearance above the main reels shows that it has risen from the ashes, or from the reels, to help players win.
At either side of the structure are two columns, one reminding players that there are 243 ways to win during the base game, and the other showing 5 greyed out symbols with the word Bonus above them, just waiting for those who play to collect. It's a really nice looking slot overall, which only looks better due to the purple and orange colour scheme that is included throughout.
The soundtrack is mysterious, which matches the slot perfectly and there is a steady drumbeat which is accompanied by traditional singing. The music intensifies with each win, with a slight touch of traditional casino sounds added into the mix.
Phoenix Sun Slot Graphics
The graphics in Phoenix Sun are impressive, with a great background setting and well thought out symbols on the reels. Whilst it’s a shame that there are more than your fair share of classic playing card symbols hitting the reels, they have been given a makeover to help them fit in with the theme that little bit better. The other symbols are the scarab beetle, beloved cat statue, Pharaoh Hound dog statue, Cleopatra-esque woman and a Pharaoh. The gold, purple and orange work really well and instantly makes this slot intriguing to play, making it one of the better looking slots out there at the moment.
Phoenix Sun Game Theme
This slot is quite obviously based on Egyptian culture with elements dotted throughout. The Phoenix isn’t particularly known as a solely Egyptian creature, however, it does feature heavily in some Egyptian mythological tales. The pyramids are an obvious element of Egypt, and one that makes the slot background look particularly beautiful.
The inclusion of the cat, possibly an Egyptian Mau, relates to the Egyptians love of the animal and the Cat Goddess that many worshipped. The black dog, also known as a Pharaoh Hound, is something that is also widely loved, with many Pharaohs depicted as owning similar dogs in tomb paintings. The two human symbols look just as you would expect when asked to think about historical Egyptian men and women. Complete with traditional headwear, the Pharaoh is reminiscent of the statue of Tutankhamun, whilst the black hair and jewellery of the woman makes her look very similar to Cleopatra.
Whilst Egyptian themed slots do have a decent fanbase, Quickspin slots are popular with an NZ audience which makes this slot a no brainer for those looking for their next fun slot to play.
How to Play Phoenix Sun Slots
If you’re new to playing slots, you should have no trouble figuring out where to go to get started. Those who are seasoned slots players will recognise the player panel that sits below the reels on many slots, with Phoenix Sun being no different. All of the options are on this panel, leaving the rest of the screen uncomplicated and taking nothing away from the shimmering background.
On the right is the spin button which is larger in size making it obvious how to get the reels turning. Next to it is the autoplay option which allows you to select between 10 and 100 automatic spins, with an advance option allowing you to set you a loss and single win limit to prevent you from missing out on any big activity.
Next, there are your betting options which allow you to adjust your total bet. This begins at a minimum of 0.25 and goes up in increments to 100.00 per spin. To the left of this are your remaining balance and the number of bet ways you are currently playing with, depending on whether you have managed to uncover any of the extra reels during your game. The final options are settings, allowing you to turn the sound on and off, and the paytable where you can find out more about the symbols and their worth.
How To Win at Phoenix Sun Slots
The aim of the game is to match up between 3 and 5 symbols on the reels in order to win a prize. This prize will depend on how much you have placed at stake, so just to give you an idea we are playing with the minimum stake of 0.25 per spin.
The playing card symbols 10, J, Q, K and A are the low payers with each paying out 0.10, 0.15 and 0.20 when you land 3, 4 and 5 of them with a minimum bet. The beetle, cat and dog are next up the payscale with 0.20, 0.30 and 0.60 available, whilst the Cleopatra-style woman will pay 0.25, 0.40 and 0.75 for 3, 4 and 5 of a kind. The Pharaoh is the highest paying standard symbol with 0.25, 0.50 and 1.00 on offer. It doesn’t sound like much, however, when you realise that when playing with the maximum stake you could come out with up to 400.00, it seems much better.
Phoenix Sun Bonus Features
This slot has not one, but two wild symbols. The golden wild is the more basic of the two and will substitute for all other symbol, minus the Phoenix wild to create potential winning combinations. The Phoenix wild substitutes for every single symbol to help you win even more.
The big feature in this slot relates to the increasing ways to win which were mentioned at the beginning of the game. Every time you land a Phoenix wild symbol on the reel, it will be collected in the bonus area on the left of the reels and 3 additional tiles will be added to the 3 x 5 grid. With this also comes a respin with another chance to land a Phoenix wild and expand the grid even more. This will continue to happen until you find no more Phoenix wilds on the reels, or until you have collected a full set of 5 bonus symbols.
Free Spins on Phoenix Sun Slot
The bonus meter on the left of the reels is your ticket to landing free spins. As soon as you collect 5 of the Phoenix wild symbols on the reels, you will trigger 8 free spins. To make this even better, your free spins will be played on the full 5 x 6 set of reels, allowing you to win up to 7,776 ways.
Payout Ratio (or RTP) of Phoenix Sun Slot
Phoenix Sun has a Return to Player percentage (RTP) of 96.05%.
Phoenix Sun Game Volatility
Phoenix Sun is a medium volatility slot which means that you may be on the receiving end of plenty of small prizes yet still stand a good chance of winning the top prizes on offer.
Phoenix Sun Strategy and Tips
Many players research a particular slot with the hope of finding a tried and tested way to win. Unfortunately for them, this is simply not possible. The use of Random Number Generators ensures that there is no way to trick the game, with each and every spin being completely random, and therefore, fair.
However, whilst you have nothing to lose when you spin the reels on a demo version, you should be wary when you play for real. A slot may look great on the surface, but once you have spent your money to spin you may find that it is not for you. This could mean that you spend your budget just trying to find a slot that you like, something which you could do initially by playing the demo version for free. It also helps to do this so that you can figure out the game and its features, putting you in the best position if you do manage to land the bonus.
